Angelina Kartsaki grew up in Crete and studied music in Thessaloniki (Department of Music Science and Art, University of Macedonia / violin degree, class of Lutz Kühne, Municipal Conservatory of Thessaloniki) and in London (ΜΑ in Contemporary Music Studies, Goldsmiths, University of London).
She is a founding member of many different groups (among others the performance groups The Black Hook in Thessaloniki and Oiseaux Bizzares in London, the free improvisation group Spring , the vocal ensemble ARKYS and the Phoneyisland Cabaret Orchestra in Berlin. The last few years she has been collaborating with the theater group Film Riss Theater and touring with the acoustic band my sister grenadine. In 2014 she founded the performance-duo Tante&Tante together with her sister, Eirini Kartsaki. She has also been working as an assistant director at Neuköllner Oper Berlin and as a musician in the Berliner Ensemble.
Her interest lies in the combination of different art practices in order to produce experimental forms. Her favorite activity is craft. Sound, paper, wood or texts, she loves recycling old materials and giving them new life.
In April 2015 she released her first solo album called Electrical appliances and other animals by the DIY label Fytini.
She lives and works in Berlin since 2007.
