Isabel Flores

Profession: Artist
  • Art
  • I am a Spanish artist based in Berlin and work in the media of painting and installation. My principal subject deals with the idea of a comparison between the evolution of culture and the evolution of ornament. I study the use of ornament and patterns in the Contemporary paint and architecture and creates a relation between the object, the architectural space, the geometry and the ornamentation producing works that have a historical as well as personal resonance. My work focuses on the ornament with a special interest in the Islamic world that was fueled by my stay in Istanbul in 2012/13 while doing the final year of my BA. Specially since this experience in Turkey in my personal live as well as in my artistic work, travel has become a way to accumulate experiences that are the basis of my inspiration.
