The Berlin Soundpainting Orchestra continues its year project focused on unusual concert spaces – here going for an afternoon performance in crazy Neukölln, invading the beautiful Neuköllner Oper passage.
To explore the interplay between music, history, architecture, accoustic and public area.
BERLIN SOUNDPAINTING ORCHESTRA
The Berlin Soundpainting Orchestra, created by Hada Benedito in 2012, is a group of experimental musicians, improvisers and composers coming from very different backgrounds and countries.
They offer improv concerts and performances, composed in real time using the Soundpainting sign language.
Their live composed works, made of sound and movement, could be described as a trip of obscure and colorful images – an expansive way of traveling among improvisation and avand-garde music beyond contemporary jazz.

Soundpainting is an international sign language for live composition created by Walter Thompson in the 70s.
The language comprises more than 1200 gestures that are signed by the Soundpainter (or live composer) to indicate the type of material desired of the performers.
The creation is therefore composed live and collectively, through improvisation and the parameters signed by the Soundpainter.
